For owners that have swapped out the pups...

What sets work well together and on the shorter scale?

How is it wired behind the guard? Do the typical pup wires reach where they need to go or are extensions needed?

Yikes! Factory Fender wiring can be such an ugly mess. Nice of them to shield that one bit of the pickguard where the switch is. Also the reliance on the control plate to act as a common ground (note the unused eyelet on the output jack). That is a bit lazy really.


I'm interested in seeing what pickups are put forward for upgrades in this bass. Being shortscale presumably the results will be slightly different from the norm?
