Fender Player Meteora Bass

Hi guys, here you can find the complete sound test of the new Fender Meteora Bass. The test was carried out using Fender stock strings and playing the instrument in all its main possible sound configurations using the three main techniques(fingers, pick and slap).

I dunno. The test was very interesting but the cut seemed to take too much from the signal while the boost added too much. Maybe it was how you set the knobs, but the bass really seemed to need some balance. Somewhere in between the cut and the boost may be the best path, if that is possible with the Meteora. Who knows? The slap was my favorite, even though it isn't the style that I prefer.

Just got a promo email from Fender and now they are talking about the “Active Meteora Bass” instead of the “Meteora Bass.” Guess the complaints about the lack of passive tone control are having an impact on them.

It seems that Fender wants us to use the active preamp with three eq points instead of a single tone knob to get the tones we want.

for better or worse

To be honest: I’ve not seen much complaining about it with stingrays

Sure. I’ve never had a problem with a bass that is always supposed to be active. Originally, Fender just wasn’t clear enough about this and I wanted a bass that was usable in passive and active because I was worried about batteries running out.

That’s fair, I have 4 basses that run on batteries. Two have active/passive switches (fender). Two don’t (rays).

None have ever died on me. I change the batteries when I change the clocks forward/backward and check the smoke detectors.
