This has to be one of the best Fender designs of all-time! Made in Japan exclusively and the quality speaks for itself. It features a slightly smaller P-Bass body for lighter weight and playing comfort without sacrificing look or feel. The slim profile neck is a full 34" scale and is made for fast action. The alder body is finished in RED sunburst with a matching headstock. Heavy bridge and Gotoh tuners and all the hardware is gold-plated. The active P/J pickups have ceramic magnets and a 9-volt preamp that features volume, pan, bass & treble controls.

Canada, Eh!
Hmm... I see there was a mahogany-body version called Deluxe, but I thought the 'deluxe' moniker was also used with the models with gold hardware?

I'm not sure about that. But I do own one of the mahogany bodied ones with the P and double-J pickups, which was the "Deluxe" model at the time ('98-'00ish).

Just trying to help, sorry for the confusion.

That color is hot with the flame top!!
I have the same bass in black, great slim/fast neck and easy on the back.
Wish mine was the same color..

The first generation Lytes all had gold hardware (and no double pickup at the bridge). The deluxe had the double J pickup at the bridge and came out later. That's when they changed the standard Lyte to chrome hardware.
