Fender Precision Deluxe 2010, any owners views

I've got a 96 American Delux P.

About a month ago I did see/hear a bass player in a local cover band playing a new Deluxe P. Pretty straight ahead rock & roll kind of thing. Sounded just fine to me. Never saw him switch pups or do anything fancy, or slapping. Played with a pick and/or finger tips. He's a veteran player with plenty of gig money, so I would expect him to buy what he likes. Played through an old Peavey bass rig.
