Fender precision lyte

Have an early 90's Japanese made Fender Precision Lyte with a pickup issue. The bridge pickup buzzes a lot in certain environments. Home use it sounds and plays fine but when out and around a lot of electronics, it picks up a lot of buzzing. I have gone the lesser route and shielded the electronics cavity with shielding tape but it didn't resolve. Any ideas on replacement pickups or an Alternate method of noise reduction

I think that has a PJ configuration, a jazz pickup at the bridge. The jazz pickup is single coil (unlike the precision pick-up nearer the neck), so will pick up buzz. If you've money you could swap it for a split coil jazz pup, which may kill some of the noise.

The back pickup is single coil and will hum in certain situations because that's the nature of single coil pickups. Not a fan of the pickups or preamp, quite honestly. I threw in EMG PJ's and a BQC preamp in mine and I like it a million times better.

Well some folks like those pickups and pre, but I think they're not very good at all. Been through about 5-6 sets of different pickups, vintage style, hot passives like Duncan QP's and DiMarzio Model PJ's, and EMG PJ's and PJX's were the only ones I ever really liked in it. But the PJX's are a little too bright for me, so I went with PJ's. Just my personal take on it...YMMV. But anything is an improvement over those stock pickups as far as I'm concerned.

Ah the buzz,i personally have 2 & dont find it a problem. Most times i just turn a certain direction which helps but not always.
I find the Deluxe version with that double jazz buzzes alot more then my Standard version bridge p/u or not.

I like my p lyte but the bridge pup does buzz a little. Mostly I use just the P but I do blend in the bridge some. The bridge by itself is anemic and worthless IMO. I've got a Bart HC J to put in but haven't done it. I'd consider a new preamp but I'm not playing it much now.
