i didnt know they made a pre spec in japan. its cool if they did but ive never heard of it but there again im no expert on the subject
even if its a mexi special with a CIJ neck its still pretty nice. thats a great sunburst though so id say odds are its legit

Thanks guys, I have doubt because in the headstock dont have serial number... the serial is behind the neck/body

That's where they put it on newer Japanese models (post-1990 IIRC)

Something's out of place on this model. The logo doesn't match with the body ('62 Reissue logo on a Special body?) I am not aware of any Japanese Specials to begin with. I'd say either the Jazz pickup is not original, the headstock logo isn't, or the "Made in Japan" sticker on the back isnt.

Or all of the above.

Where'd you find this/do you own it?

EDIT: After looking at the pics again, judging by the tuners on top of the rest it looks to me like the neck and the body were mated non-originally. What does the neckplate read, if anything at all?

yeah thats def a 62 ri logo and thats a WAY incorrect but beautiful burst to jive with it..id say it a franken bass :D no harm in that because its nice. its a cool bass and if its a good player i say who cares. if its yours and you ever wanna ditch it please holler at me because i found myself coming back to look at ths bass ALOT today and each time i loved it more and more. with one tiny mod id LOVE to have that bass
