This deal is still active! I'm pretty pumped to have this oddball Fender in my lineup. It looks like every bass you would see in a cartoon band and I love that about it.
The Rascal arrived yesterday in perfect condition. Weighed in at 9lbs, and after a setup sounds and plays great. Definitely a steal for the money. Very unique and cool sounding bass.
Looks like a strat and a dano got together and had a little bass.
Deal is active again. Just snagged one at $399. Awesome deal, been wanting one of these for a while.
Just so you know the bass will string up just fine with standard length strings. Medium scale are perfect. If you use long scale you won't have to cut past the silk so you will only have one fat string wrap on the E tuning post, which may or may not be an issue to you.
The stock strings make the bass sound a bit thin. I reccommend going with a heavier guage set than normal or a set with a heavier D and G. This will help with the feel and the tone.
The pickups can be set to not rattle, do not be alarmed. The higher they are the tighter they will be.

You still playing the rascal. I got one and the controls are screwing up - the tone knob is not working and the pull on the volume is not doing to well. Have you heard of anything about these.

Yep, still playing mine. Works just fine. Sorry you got a lemon of sorts. Electronics are a pretty easy fix if you are handy. I will snap some photos of the volume and tone pots in mine so you can double check yours.
I do think I will be adding another .022 cap to the .022 already in the circuit when I open it up. The tone control lets a bit too much mids through for my taste.
