Fender Rumble 100 v3 sounds dull.

.
@bassliner50, if you like the sound of your Rumble 40, the 100 should certainly be able to sound as good. But, before you go to the trouble and expense of replacing the speaker, here's a couple of easy things to try.

Unlike the Rumble 200 & 500 combos, the Rumble 100 comes with no internal acoustic lining. So some people add some for enhanced tone. You might try just putting some material in the ports, to see if that helps you. ;)

Also, try starting with an approximately true flat EQ setting of about 10, 2, 2 & 10 o'clock for the Bass, Lo Mid, Hi Mid & Treble, with no voicing buttons. Then make slight adjustments from there to find your desired tone. That's usually a good Rumbling start for "tuning" to different venues, too.

Hope this helps. You're also welcome to come ask in the Fender Rumble Club, and get a free membership. :D

I have a Rumble 100 and have no problem dialing it in, sounds great.
Mine just arrived and I've been fiddling with it since I got home from work. I noticed it was a bit "wooly" at first but dialing out some bass and boosting treble seemed to clean that up. I'm taking it to rehearsal Friday night and curious to see how it holds up with a drummer, two guitars and an organ.

from the Rumble Wiki page, a set of cheap, effective mods for the 100.

NAD - Fender Rumble V3 100

I'm really happy with my Rumble100. I picked it up insane cheap and have been gigging through the summer with it. I'm not asking it to do much more than be a stage monitor. We have PA support for all shows and I'm always running a direct line for FOH.

Can be a bit boomy, but the 10-2-2-10 setting has helped.

Nice resource page, I’ll be sure to check it out.

The flat tone settings are not all tone controls at noon, but rather, Bass, Low Mid, High Mid, Treble Clock Knob Settings at 10, 1:30, 2, 9:30. (Approximated to easy-to-remember: 10, 2, 2, 10.)

Start you tone hunt from these settings and you will likely be much closer to your tone.
I'm going to try this at rehearsal. We always rehearse at a local studio, rent the rooms by the hour. Having a light little combo to tote in/out would be really convenient if it's able to handle it. I've been using my Mesa WA Scout 112 for many years for this and it works brilliantly, in part I think because of the downward port design in that cabinet. But my first impression of the 100 suggests it is very loud for a 112 and think it might be up to the challenge.

Personally, initially, I didn’t think it sounded bad, but I noticed it likes to choose certain notes that it plays louder than others. A little bit muddy at times too. and that’s running the EQ completely flat.
