Knew it. To me it's obvious- the passive bass has the slightly darker, fuller sound, which I prefer.
Funny you say you prefer the Sad live, and Fender in the studio- I prefer exactly the opposite. The Fender has more going on in the mids, which helps it be heard through live clutter better, IMO/IME.

Clip 2 = Fender

I like each for their own purposes. If I had to keep one it would be the Sadowsky because of the 5 option (what am I saying...I don't like 5's) and for the sadowsky pre.

A traditional and a modern . . everyone should own a Fender with an Ampeg B15.
You have to keep them both.

The Sadowsky sounded more even and smooth in the lower registers. Also, the new sunbeams on the fender were obvious to me.

Yep. I was wondering why everyone was bothering to "guess" on the clips. I guess that took away a bit of the fun, though!

Yeah I didn't realize that when it was downloaded it gave the names of the tracks as I saved them. Whoops!

Still interesting hearing other people's preferences etc. but the guessing part was an added bonus for our bass entertainment.

Actually it was all very half-assed on my part, since the idea was to hear the differences I didn't pay much attention to the numbering of the clips.
