Anyone play the Fender Steve Harris Precision Bass?

I had one for a very short time. It was a long time dream come true for me, but in the end I liked my other basses better. It seems they all weigh a lot, which kinda turns me off, and I didn't like the tension of the strings they come with (easy fix). They also seem expensive to me, but that may be because I'm getting old and everything seems expensive now.
I do think they look awesome though. I would have kept mine if I didn't already have 2 P-Basses at the time that I was happier with.

It's a pbass with duncans and a mirror pg.
To make a mim of the same specs it'd cost (Lets say: $600 bass, $50 pups, $50 pg, $50 strings... to keep things nice and even) $750 (prolly less than that)
The fender Harris sig is what? Over $1000?
I thought these were MIJ with a 34" scale 20 fret FB, BA2 bridge, unique body color and signed HS. Sure, you might be able to make a copy for a lot less than what the real thing is priced, but that can be said for any sig bass. Like anything else, they're really only worth what you're willing to pay.
+$100 bridge, a color you won't find on any other p-bass, and a vintage tint neck.
the coolness of playing that same bass that you're favorite bassist and biggest influence plays is priceless.
sure, they're not for everybody, but for Maiden/Harris fanatics like myself, they are more than worth the $1200.
i think $1800 is outrageous for the Jaco sig bass, but that's because i'm not into him (not to say he wasnt incredibly talented and revoultionary, i'm just not into that type of music - dont wanna ruffle any feathers here). i'm sure its totally reasonable for a big fan.
Ok That puts it at $850
You can use kiwi shoe polish to tint your neck (put a few coats on your neck, no need to strip your neck's finish... it bleeds through, and take it off after X number of hours) and it stains your neck.
Uh and MIM pbasses now come in LPB and with maple. IMHO the LPB comes closer to the color of his bass than the royal blue metalic comes.

It'll never be the same quality as a MIM. Overpriced? Absolutely. But like it was said before, Steve Harris fans will love it.
After a good fretlevel and setup it will come damn close. IMO unless the sig model is hard to make (Hoppus, dirnt, stu hamm) it's not worth it, just make one.
100$ more than an American standard which can sell for more and quicker then a harris. The american standard is also included with an amazing case, thus the steve harris is over priced. I would love one , but at a fair price 900-1000$.
Which makes it worth more to a maiden fan personally , but in market terms and what you get from a business point its still over priced.
There for fans , fans are the only people that would pay that , its worth it to them , but still overpriced.
i personally don't think it looks as cool as stock vintage fenders. and i wouldn't pay more for any signature bass just because musician x played something that looks like it. My two biggest influences on electric are james jamerson and jaco, and both of them played stock instruments (although jaco modified his). Regardless, I wouldn't pay $4000 for the Jaco relic bass, because I have a $2000 Spector that IMO sounds better. Honestly, my $250 Squier fretless stands up to the Jaco relic just fine soundwise, it just feels "cheaper" to play.
I hear what you're saying, but while it is over-priced for the average bassist, it has been put together for the fan. Sure it's all marketing but to any SH fan buying it, it is not overpriced!
It doesn't matter that you can build something similar from a MIM, etc. It the fact that this is a SH endorsed bass!
Once again I'll say... Unless its exotic (hard to make/pricey parts bass) a signature bass isn't worth it see the dirnt is cause it'd cost over $500 just to replicate a squier quality dirnt like bass.
OK, take a $550 MIM bass; add a $60 p-up, a $100 bridge, $35 strings, $50 pickguard, $300 (minimum(?) custom paint) gives you $1095. SH sig at $1299 without all the hassle of buying, organizing assembling the parts (and not considering shipping) as a fan.....probably worth it!
I have one of those in a Jazz. It's phenomenally good. I feel like a got a great deal, paying less than $550.
