Fender Stock pickups vs EMG's or Basslines.

Hey everybody, this is my first post.

Basically what I'm looking to find out is if it'd be worth my while investing in some SD Basslines or EMG's for my Fender Jazz Deluxe 5? I put basslines into my first bass and it made a huge difference, but the tone on this is already huge and I'm unsure what to do.

Thanks.

I played a fender of some type the other day that had basslines. They sounded very good... so far basslines and EMGs seem to be my favorite... i know this doesn't answer your questions in any shape or form though.

If those basslines fit and you like them go for it.

In the long run, You will probably spend your way back to what you already have.

I have a Deluxe Jazz 4-string and love the sound. I had a 5 string deluxe jazz years agao and remember that the pickups are made differentlty because of the placement of the screw holes for mounting the pickup. I do not remeber if the pickup covers come off or if they are molded all together, if they are molded your up a creek, if not you can buy pickups from another company and mount them to the existing pick up covers. One of the reasons I got rid of my 5-string deluxe jazz had to do with this problem of being stuck with the original equipment and not being able to modify the bass.

Good Luck, but I would just keep it the way it is and play it.
