Fender Super Bassman and Neo 810

Hi All. I'm looking at the Super Bassman and Neo 810 and I have a few questions for anyone who has this. Right now I play an Ampeg Classic (with the SVT 810--older logo single speaker out) and Mesa 400+ (with the powerhouse 810). I only play 810s.

Does the Super Bassman with Neo 810 bang and have depth and volume like my Ampeg and Mesa rigs do? Since the Neo 810 is also a closed cabinet is it similar to the Ampeg? How's it different? Is the Super Bassman similar to the SVT but with a drive channel or is it it's own beast? The Neo 810 and the SBM look super well made.

Last question, does the feet on the Super Bassman line up with the cups on the top of an SVT? I'll be playing it with the Ampeg while I save up for the matching 810 and it would be really nice if they line up.

Thanks for any input! The Fender dealers in my area only have these items for special order so I can't try them. I've been seeing some huge names playing them so I'm assuming there's something special there.

I worked for one of Fender's specialty brands at the time these were being developed, I'm pretty familiar with that line.

I think if you give the Super Bassman/Ampeg 810 combo a fair shot you might really enjoy it. I totally get the desire to have the whole rig match and the fenders are great cabs, but for whatever reason the Ampeg fridge is the only 810 that does it for me.

Have you actually compared the Fender 810 Neo to the Ampeg 820???

For a brief period I owned both cabs. From what I recall, the Fender sounded "bigger" in the sense it went deeper and brighter. for the Ampeg, It's hard to describe , but there's just something going on in the midrange that resonates with me. Both cabs are awesome, I just preferred Ampeg's flavor of awesome.

Yes, the low frequency extension of the Fender 810 is much greater than the Ampeg, it also has higher sensitivity and power handling.

That's a decent point. However I'm sure Duff and Vman don't play garbage. Also something kind of interesting: but Mike Dirnt and Matt Freeman are playing the Super Bassman and Neo 810s. Back in the day when rancid was making out come the wolves, Matt told the engineer that he wanted to play whatever Mike Dirnt played on Dookie, an SVT Classic. And now they are both playing the Fenders. Anyway, have you played the SB and have any feedback on it?

Never even seen one in person. Given how much promo I've seen from mike dirnt for the fender amp I'm sure he is playing it for the money as much or more than the tone though.
I'm sure it's not garbage, but any amp I've ever played through that is loud enough has been fine to gig with.
