i downloaded a file onto my ipod's hardrive (not into itunes or the library).

now i can't delete the dang thing...it keeps saying it is in use with another program....it's not....i'm not even on the same computer i downloaded it from...

any master or overrride delete options???:confused:

Reboot and log in as Admin. Something is running that needs access to that file. Chasing down file dependencies is as much fun as cleaning corns from your grandma's feet.

i have never tried that but i will....

it's a random audio file......i've never opened it....plus i downloaded it from a different cpu...then took my ipod home....plugged it into my computer

i'm not even sure i can log in as admin on my cpu haha

i will try :confused:

Is this on the IPOD's drive, or the computer's drive? There is a difference in the right answer.

If it is the computer then the above suggestions should work. If it is the IPOD's drive...

(This will also work on the computer if the other suggestions did not.)

Plug in your IPOD, open explorer, and note the drive letter and path to the bad file. I will assume it is E:\music

Start->Run->CMD (enter)
cd e:\music [or path to directory with bad file] (enter)
del [name of bad file]

Close the command window.

If you get a "file not found" error, do a dir (enter) and make sure the file is there and named what you think. The IPOD software works in a strange way when reporting to windows.
