Finally got my SRX650

So I finally got my SRX650 today from daddys.com. I'll have some pictures of it up soon,but it's pretty dirty...it looks like who ever ownedi t before me never cleaned his hands or the bass period
and theres some nasty gunk on the finger board and the binding around it..what product works best for removing this kind of crap? Is it ok to use something like a tooth brush for the frets?

That's a good looking SRX, Congratulations! I have a 590 in the stable and it's a nice bass.
As far as cleaning goes, try good ole spit first(no kidding...got that from Dan Erlewine)Then move on to harsher methods. Perhaps some 0000 steel wool on the fretboard going gently with the grain will help out there.

any other suggestions besides spit and steel wool. I want to say i recall seeing a certain wood cleaner but it's left me

Either Lemon Oil furniture polish or Murphy's Oil Soap are good for cleaning a fingerboard. Use a pointed toothpick to scrape the spooge from the fret/board junction. If you want to polish the frets up afterward you can use a pencil eraser to clean up the tops of the frets.

if its like flakey stuff on the fingerboard, then my friend said its good to use a credit card and scrap it off

nah,its not really flakey,its just gunk stuck on the inside edges of the frets

Im sure a tooth brush couldnt hurt it, as long as youre careful and take your time. It is wood, after all!
