What nicotine addicts don't understand is the difference between prevention of misery by continuing to use the stuff and actual happiness. Each dose perpetuates the process of withdrawal until you die or you quit. The actual symptoms of withdrawal are minor but being miserable from wanting to fix it is major.
Take away the ideas that nicotine ever did anything good except end craving for poison. Then it only takes a few days of not smoking for most of the nicotine to be metabolized out of your system and you are well on the way to realizing you will never smoke again.
Then you must stay happy to be a nonsmoker. Think about it. Only smokers crave cigarettes.
