I switched over to keys in a loud cover band. I just started using (wired) in ears a few months ago. I bought off the shelf sennheiser earbuds for about a hundred bucks (can't remember the model right now). Only two aux sends on our board so here's how I hooked things up
1) my vocals
2) keys
3) room mic
4) main mix feed from main mixing board
I sent channels 1+2 panned hard left and hard right on to the main mixer.
Have to keep the fader levels all the way off on channels 3+4 so it's not sent back to the main mixer!!!!! but you can set the headphone jack on the zed10 to a pre-fader aux send so you can balance your monitor mix separately from what you send to the main mixer.
this obviously required some careful manual reading and testing.
I didn't bother with the room mic after the first gig.
The zed10 is a great sounding little mixer and half the price of the aviom units mentioned earlier. Some people might require a totally custom monitor mix but I guess I'm just not that picky.
