Double Bass Fingerboard Extension in Chicagoland/NY area

As a college student and predominantely a solo bassist, I really want to get an extension put on my fingerboard, and go to school in the midwest but recently moved to the New york area. I know there has to be some good luthier's around these two areas, and was wondering if you guys had any reccomendations as who to go to to have put on my extension?

I think hes talking about an upper fingerboard extension.

I know that David Gage does upper extensions but keep in mind that more fingerboard would change the instrument's resonant frequency and may bring out a wolf. It also may close up certian registers of the bass.

I've played on a few basses that had extensions put on them and the sound quality and resonance was still there. In fact, Edgar meyer said that he thinks the sound improved on his bass when his extension was put on.

But yes, i'm talking about an extension on the fingerboard (for the upper registers), not a low C extension.
