I am thinking of doing the same thing right now. I want a BB75 with the drop tuner on the E string, tune it E-C. BUT, I play my own music. When I was in cover bands I would never have done that, never played higher than what a normal 4 stringer would do. Occasionally, I would do a drop D, for some songs. Most bands want a traditional bass player, no solo, no real melody. So, I guess my opinion is either do what YOU want or do what your band needs!

Doesn't Hipshot have a D-tuner designed for the E string on a BEAD 5 string? I remember someone mentioning that in the past but I can't find it now.
