First Foray into wiring = Failed

Well, as the title says, just got an old jazz body all wired up, followed the tutorials, just threw the neck on and bam. No sound. Nothing. Argh.

Gonna post pictures up soon, any advice?

Just kidding. We would probably need to see what wiring diagram you used before we could offer any troubleshooting tips. The first general things are:

Do you have and know how to use a multimeter? This is needed to check connections and for shorts.
Do you know the pickups were good?

Absolutely no sound general means a short to ground, or no connection to the output jack.

Also, this may get more attention in the pickups and electronics forum.
