ok, this might be a really stupid question idk, I'm kinda new to this gig process thing. But anyways, what do you need for a gig besides your bass? No one in my band has a PA or anything...I am so confused, my uncles plays at gigs (not a bassist though) and he tells me all you need to play at a small venue (wherever) is your instrument, everything else is there. Is this true? I am so confused cause I really don't think it is true? please help!:help:

Unless told otherwise (and even then I`d be skeptical) the band brings everything. Bass, amps, pa, drums, mics, mic stands, power mixers, monitors, effects, cables, extra strings, picks, etc...

In our experience it all depends where you are at and who you are playing with. If you know the "headliners" depending on the show sometimes they'll bring their PA or someone else on the bill.

Or its provided by the place you are playing but that's always scary for me personally so we will always go scope it out before the show to make sure its adeuquate.

But me personally I have always brought my amp cab and anything else just in case. That way its not the bassists fault ;)

It really depends. I've played gigs before that had everything, including the instruments. I'd still bring a bass though, it's kind of weird playing someone elses setup. If you don't have a good amp, sometimes someone else playing the show will let you use theirs.
