First TI Flats ordered. 2 questions.

No issues. The feel of the TIs is one of the best things about them.

TIs on a P bass are heavy, that's the way I would go if I had to choose.

I have used TI Jazz Flats since they were first introduced in the late 80’s. I’ve played them on a G&L 1000, a vintage Fender Precision, Lakland 55-94’s,
a vintage 1966 Fender Jazz and a Godin Acoustibass. They proved wonderful on all those instruments with no nut replacement on much of an adjustment either.

If you have flats on a P Bass then you probably know already if you want flats on both (all?) of your basses. If you have rounds on your PRS then you know what you'll be giving up by switching. Maybe you are fine with that. For me I'd probably want to keep at least one bass with rounds, even though I play my flats basses a large % of the time. Maybe you'll put them on the PRS and then buy a new bass for rounds!

If you do put them on the PRS expect for them to retain a bit more of the high end vs. other flats (which might be a nice surprise), and then expect them to settle in after a week or two. That sound will then stay for a long time. I wouldn't change them out quickly though, I'd give them a chance and see how you like them broken in.

Heard the glowing reviews and bit the bullet and ordered the TI flats.

Question 1.
I usually have 45-65-85-105 strings on my basses. The TI's A and D are 70 and 56. Any issues?

Question 2.
I have 2 basses I am considering for these strings. A passive PRS SE with Seymour Duncan SB4 pickups(because the stock pickups were the suckiest, weakest, noisiest pickups I have ever heard). The other is an 83 PBass Elite ll, with active pickups. The PBass is the bass I often use to record, and currently has Fender Flats. Which would you recommend putting them on?

You shouldn’t have any major issues gauge-wise. Maybe just a little intonation adjustment and truss rod tweak (because they are pretty low-tension). I’d put them on your Pbass. I’m sure you will love them. They are game changers. Amazing strings. Good luck!

TI Flats on a P Bass are huge. My favorite pairing is with the Seymour Duncan SPB2. With that slightly hot PU, the TI Flats sound huge - with a very light touch. I don’t have enough experience to comment on the SPB4.

Idk if this will help you or not, but personally I would go with the Pbass for the second pair…

My favorite bass in my arsenal at the moment is my Fender P w/ passive Geezer EMGs and SH77 flats…

That’s not quite the setup you listed above as you are using actives w/ different strings, however that bass sounds like an absolute MONSTER…

I personally love the way a P with flats sound…

No idea how well they would record/sit in the mix for you, but that combo sounds absolutely CRUSHING IMO…

Something about flats and the P pick up can make for a really gnarly sound…

1: As everyone is rightly saying, they'll feel looser/lighter at first but you get used to it quickly, might need a touch of truss adjustment.
2: TI flats on a P are awesome.
They also get better and better with age. I actually dislike them a bit when brand new. I have them on all my basses.

I do like the Fender Flats on my Pbass. They sound very good. I am leaning towards your suggestion of putting them on the PRS which currently have MJC Ironworks Stainless Steel strings. I think the tilted head stock on the PRS would help with the "A" string issues that the PBass can have. 5 wraps on the A string to get it low enough on the post to create an angle. /s

Very true. I do have a late 90's Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, and that one will always have rounds for the wicked growl.

TI Jazz Flats are smaller in diameter (gage) then other Flatwounds. The composition of the metal is also different. They have a similar feel and sound to
Thomastik Spirocore Double Bass strings although they have a single wire core.
