My big band director gave me a chance to play his Ric at rehearsal yesterday. I was BLOWN AWAY. It was unbelievably comfortable and sounded amazing. Tone just oozed out of it. Twas a beautiful thing.

Welcome! The 2011s are FANTASTIC, btw. Also, you can find older 4001s on ebay for around that price too.
I came *THIS* close to buying a 70's Rickenbacker 4001 in Burgundyglo for $1700, but the guy needed instant payment, and I didn't have that much in my Paypal.

Not sure what basses you play now, but it's quite a revelation when you step up from the usual stuff (Fender) to something truly awesome. It's a great feeling!

Check Musicians Friend, folks were getting new Ricks for $1100-$1300 from them. Not sure if they still have them at that price though.

As far as I can tell, Rics have been improving incrementally over the last ten years. I have a 2010 that I crazy about. Truly special. Especially with flats.
