Flat wound B string and tuning post

I put stainless DR flats on a five string Bongo, and the B string was so long for that headstock, that the fat part of the string after the felted skinny part started to wind on the tuning post a little before it was in tune.
Sounds ok but looks weird.
I was thinking of adding 2 or 3 small washers onto the string so they would hold the ball end out a little? Anybody ever try that?

How a string winds around the post is a very serious thing to me. I would take it off and buy some other brand. I also insist that the silk coverings line up properly. string to string. It must be the proper length so that I have exactly 3 winds around each post. I just could not live with your situation.

If the string isn't tapered at the ball end, go ahead and do the washer trick.

Yeah, no taper. Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have expressed my concern about issues like pressure on the nut slot because of the thick cable coming off the post at a sharp angle instead of straight down toward the slot. I will try the washers.

Just kidding. You could always go with strings that don't have silks. Then you don't have to worry if they line up.

Would this be ok? They basically line up except for the E string. Ignore the number of wraps, I like at least 4 on the E string to get a good down pressure on the nut.
