Flat wound strings for a 25.5 inch scale length bass?

I bought a cheap "Glarry" Short Scale Bass on eBay. I really like it but kinda want flat wound strings. Scale length is 25.5 inches. I have been hunting - I can find them both shorter and longer but can't find any that length. The strings that came with it are just cut off round wounds. I am thinking that cutting flat wound strings and wrapping them on the tuners probably won't work.
Anybody have any ideas on how I might get flat wounds working on this bass?

Yep, those are what I used on my 25.5" scale bass that was labelled Glenn Burton, but the exact same instrument.

For those of you who have very short scale basses and want flat wound strings, Gold Tone has commissioned La Bella to make under 26" scale flat wound Deep Talkin' strings. I bought a set a couple of weeks ago for my SmallGuitars.com MB-1 mini P-bass 24.5" scale. Nice improvement, the gauges are .049 .069 .089 .109. I ordered another set for my custom 24" Rickenbacker 325 from China and it's not even close how much better the La Bellas are than the crap stock ones. I just ordered two more sets for my custom SG EB-1 from China and my ESP Jr. guitar conversion to bass. Am I glad I ran across...

I use Labella flats on two of my bass guitars, one being a small Ibanez Mikro. Easy to find. I had it set up by a Bay Area Luthier.
Typically, I use my P bass, but the the flats on the short scale Ibanez sound very good.

Looks like scale length on an Ibanez Mikro is 28.5 inches. Mine is 25.5 inches
