Flatwounds

Some just don't like an in-depth discussion on flatwound strings and feel the need to keep saying so, over and over, in a much deeper (and VERY long) thread on the subject elsewhere...instead of just ignoring the very thing they don't want to discuss.
So I posted this thread for them.

I just got my new Fretless Jazz and it came strung up with some flatwounds. I was never a big fan of them before, but I think they kind of fit with the whole fretless vibe. What brand of flatwounds do you use? As I'm a fan of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys when using roundwound, what would be a good flatwound option for me as far as sound & cost go?
Have been at home only so far with some flats (chromes) on my jazz playing along with music tracks. I have to admit I do like the way it seems to fit in, even though this is not a real band setting. One thing I have trouble with is the fact that I love to put accent slides in and flats are much harder to get a nice full slide sound, no texture to help it out I guess. They do really seem to have a better sounding open e tone. I had always noticed that rounds have a uneven attack on open e, but the flats are very nice in that area. I also found that my bridge pup sounds so much better. I love the mid range growl of bridge pups, but always felt the need to boost lows to give it body, do not seem to have that problem with flats - just a deep growl... Um, this thread is to talk about flats, right? 
I have always used rounds and just picked up a new bass that had flats on it. Thought I would give it a try... I dont mind the way they sound so much (it's a nice change) they just feel weird... mostly on my left hand. I've only got a few hours on it so far but I'm getting ready to change them. I'll give it a little longer.

I'm a fan. Either Roto 77's or the Fender set with a 105. The Roto's are very even, like 45-65-85-105, I like that. I like the other kind too, the ones with snap and zing, non-flat.
I love my TI Jazz Flats.
I wish I could walk into a music store and play each bass on the wall w/flats.

You'd think with today's technology they could make strings that were in tune rather than always 'flat'.

I honestly had a guitar player one time ask me if you had to tune them slightly higher pitch than normal because they were 'flats'. He was serious... and a habitual dufus.

I bought a Fender 2 years ago, fretless, came with flats,
When basses first came out, flats were the only option.
I like 'em! I'm currently a fan of LaBella 'Deep Talkin" flats. They sound a little strange and out of scale when new, but play them for awhile and they really grow on you. Deep and funky
