Flea changing his strings EVERY day!!

How long is a RHCP show?

He's hitting the strings hard for a couple hours every night, sweating like crazy, and having God knows what thrown/spilled all over his bass. If I wanted any kind of bright, round wound sound, I'd change them every day, too.

Steve Harris I have never understood. If you want any kind of brightness to the sound, why play flats at all? Just put a set of Hi Beams on there and be done with it.

If I had the money, I'd put on a fresh set of Roto 66's every day, just like Chris Squire does.

But rotos last so long.

regard the fact that, in fact, Flea does NOT change his strings every day; his tech does.

I woud let my tech change my FREE string s every day too - same as Keef's tech does his 20 guitars every tour night - they have to be doing something between set up and stage call.

I, on the other hand, would never play a show with brand new strings

I really hate the way new strings feel on my fingers.
Additionally it seems to take about 40 hours of playing on them until they settle into consistent intonation and stay well in tune.

If I won the lottery, I don't think I'd be extravagant with cars and houses, etc.

But I sure would go thru the new strings! What a luxury -- nothing beats that fresh zing!

Of course I'd donate my slightly used ones to a music school or a prominent teacher to pass on to his students.

Oh, and also after that lottery win -- brand new, thick, fresh cotton socks every day! :^)

thats funny you say that, I feel the same way...there is nothing in the world like slipping on a brand new pair of socks, not even new strings and top that!

That's not a lot at all.. Or you don't play that much or you have some very good quality strings
