flea market find

hi guys,
just wanted to share my new ( to me ) squier pbass. scored it at fleamarket for 20 bucks. it was covered with stickers so i took em out, it needs a new tuning key a set up ,some knobs, sanding the head stock. everything else looks awesome
since i dont play in a band right now ive only tried it with my practice amp. it sounds pretty good.
its my first p bass so im pretty excited about it. all of my bass are with humbuckers ( stingray, and 2 ltd vipers ) im really liking how the p bass sounds and considering selling the 2 vipers so i can mod the p bass. :hyper:

considering putting a tort pickguard. ive always liked the look of black / tort combo.

will post pics after im finished making it purdy :)

Great deal!

What happened to the headstock:eek:! Looks like the worst customization from a previous owner I have ever seen. Good luck modding it, and getting that stuff off.:bassist:

yeah it is a weird pattern. ive sanded it with 1000 grade sandpaper, it left like a tinge of red. im not sure if they used a sharpie or latex paint to draw on the head stock. its almost gone :hyper:

finally i was able to do some work on the bass.

1. sanded the weird art work on the head stock, i sorta did an ok job but i couldve done better. :)

2. made a decal for the head stock using transparency and an inkjet. mcgee is my dog. i was unsure if i was gonna use my name or my wifes, but ive decided to use my dog's name instead. plus his pic.

3. bought a couple of knobs.

4. got some tuners

5. re strung it.

6. adjusted the neck a bit. action is still a lil bit high but its ok. ill probably have it set up next week.

7. ordered a tort and black pickguard.

8. rocked out for an hour

i guess it looks decent.

You beat me by five bucks! :D I picked up this hot little Indonesian for $25 from on Craigslist. It was slathered in stickers and the kid left it out on his porch for a month or so in the summer so the pots were nothing but rusty lumps. The neck was still fine after a few days of gradual truss rod adjustments. It was my first P bass ever as well as being my first mod project and I still came in under a C note ($97 to be exact ;) )for everything. Here's what I added:

)Gotoh 201 bridge - $25 shipped from TB classifieds
)Artec Pickup - Free from this grouchy TBer who's username escapes me but it was $5 for shipping.
)Bayou Audio wiring harness - $30 shipped
)Tort pickguard - $12 shipped
)AllParts control knobs - free

Alot of fun for really low dough. It's since been sold but if I see another deal like that in the future, I'll pounce again. Good cheap P basses are a blast. Have fun with yours.
