Flea's Most Funky Song

THIS by a long shot, I know RHCP were originally a "funk rock" band, but I never really felt like it was that funky...they all tended to "overplay" everything to the point of stepping all over the grooves (IMO of course). I pulled up every song mentioned in this thread, and Bust a Move is really the only one that doesn't sound like a total ClusterF.

I agree to a point.

I'm sorry for making it sound like 'pre-commercial' was a slam on the chili peppers, it wasn't I just meant prior to really hitting commercial success (BSSM), all their albums were very punky/funky. And I'd have to agree with the fellow who said OHM is underrated. Imo, that album was a departure back to their earlier days of funk-filled creative silliness.

No need to apologize, steamthief was right that I misunderstood and thought you were referring to OHM as pre commercial. IT is hard to argue that anything after BSSM wasn't a commercial album for them, whether good or bad is irrelevant. I think I was the one who said OHM is underrated, or at least echoed the thought, so it sems we are in agreement more than not.

I love One Hot Minute as an album for what it seems to mean to Flea. Frusciante is out of the picture for that album and it sounds like he stepped up his game to fill the void that was left.

To listen to it is to listen to one of rock's greatest bass players at his most focused, determined to leave his mark in the lineage of bass players...and he pulled it off. BAD. A$$.
