Recently I switched from Bel's to Flex Orig (purple wrap) with a Perm E on the bottom. The Bel's were lacking in character and punch/tension in the A and E, and this has now been solved. I love the character of the bottom three strings, Perm E w/ A and D Orig Flex, but the G, as is a common problem, is far too bright and nasal for my bass. The Bel G before was also somewhat nasal...
Does anyone have any suggestions of a G which would tone down the brightness of the high register, but still match in complexity and tone to the rest of the set? I was thinking Flex Deluxe or maybe Kaplan or to throw on another Bel G....
