Double Bass Flight Cases

I am a touring musician whose band is about to get a trailer, in which we will put the bass (Currently, a 1970 3/4 Engelhardt)...Involving concerns with temperature and general protection, I am looking into getting a flight case.
Me personally, I am NOT interested in actually using this case to FLY....I just don't trust anyone with an instrument like this, too many horror stories...all I was really wondering about would be the temperature thing....would this provide any protection against hot/cold temperatures? Anybody have any input on this? Thanks!

I don't know if this is of any help. but I was flying out of Newark in the middle of summer a number of years back and, from the boarding "lounge" I could see the cargo loading area for the plane I was gonna be flying out in. A few minutes after I had gotten settled to wait the remaining 40 minutes or so before boarding I saw the little cart trundle out with a luggage bin on wheels attached to the back with my bass in it. The Gage case is stuck into the bin scroll first, body sticking up in the air. Parked in direct sunlight on an airport tarmac in the middle of July. I got the person behind the boarding desk to come over and take a look and asked her if she could get someone to, if not repositiuon the bass so it wasn't standing on its head, to at least move the cart a few feet over so that it was in the shade. About 35 minutes later they saw fit to do so.

When I unpacked the bass, everything was fine.
