Yes, they almost always open it up. 90% of the time I find a U.S. TSA inspection leaflet in my gigbag upon arrival.

A few times one of the latches has not been secured. Haven't had any problems though.

Yeah that’s the problem I’m worry about. The latches... seems like I need to buy some extra strap. Any recommend?

I used a BassSafe a number of times this past holiday season to move a bunch of basses to the West coast. I put two zip ties around the handle and used a TSA lock on one of the latches.
