Double Bass Flying with Yamaha Silent bass

Any Yamaha SIlent Bass owners that have flown with their bass? Looking into getting one but despite my googling I can't quite figure out how people fly with it. There doesn't seem to be a flight case available for it, so what are other solutions?

I think some have found hardshell snow board or golf club cases that would work.

Bass case fits in snuggly. I suggest you get a TSA lock. They will open it. You will need to check it at oversized baggage, but there is no charge for oversize or over weight.Mine weighs 42 lbs. You'll pick it up at oversized baggage.

Hey @davehertzberg, I've flown with my Yamaha SLB several times, taking the bass as a carry-on in the soft case it comes with (it's been gate checked a few times). Here's a post about my experiences with more detail. Other folks here have checked theirs in the soft case and been all right too.

Hard cases will of course be more durable, but are not practical for my situation for a number of reasons. These instruments are expensive, but ultimately mass-produced - I treat it with as much care as possible, but have made peace with replacing it if something goes wrong.
