Double Bass Foam for mic holding in a bridge?

I have used 2”x2” open cell foam that is used to seal windows and external air conditioners. It usually comes in a roll maybe 3 feet long. The 2”x1” foam doesn’t work as well IMO. Trim the length to whatever works best.

I use one of these. Works great, I was also looking for something without the need to permanently attach the pickup or mic to the bass. Here's a video of the ball being demoed:

Well, thanks for the suggestion but this is for a small condenser mic.
I'm using a full-size dynamic mic.

Do you have craft stores in France? If not, likely an art supply or photographic supply store. I just scrounged mine from somewhere I don’t even remember at this point; it’s got perforations that divides the larger rectangle into 1 inch squares, so that the size and shape can be adjusted, I just tore off a piece that’s about 8 inches by 4 inches…

I use pluming insulation tubes for most of my mic related foam rubber needs. It comes in lengths of 3 or 6 foot, and comes in varying hole diameters. Just cut it to size and shape that you want. And you should be able to get it anytime from your favorite local hardware store -- or order it online. And it's black so it's pretty professional looking.

I don't know which mic you got but when I got the Troll mic I somehow find a "egg" foam at Canadian Tire that is made for tools and what not. I cutted to the size I needed and tried a bunch of different approach.

J'te dirais bien c'est quoi j'ai acheté précisément mais ça fait quelques années... Je peux t'envoyer des photos si jamais ça t'intéresse.

Francois, cleaning up after Christmas I found this piece of foam. It was to protect a

crystal kangaroo. It fits perfectly in my bridge and unfolds, so that you could carve out exactly the shape you want with scissors or a sharp knife. If you would like it, send me your address and I’ll put it in the mail

Do you have a shop in your area that sells foam? Sounds obvious, I know, but I bought small pieces of various types of foam from a local shop here for relatively cheap. I seem to remember they had a big pile of off-cuts that I picked through... I'm guessing that something that's egg crate shaped will work best for your purpose.

It’s my understanding that the Remic cable is connected to the microphone capsule, passed through the exit hole in the foam and
then soldered to the XLR connector. Since it’s specific to their design I’m not sure it would work with any other microphone. One of mine
needs to be replaced because it eventually warps out of form.
