Hey forum,

Quick (possibly stupid) question. Kind of a recording noob, so I'm still learning.

I recently bought a Focusrite 2i/4 to continue recording and uploading covers to YouTube. Using the ProTools First software that came with it. So far, I love the thing - sounds great, pretty easy to use, etc.

However, I have an issue with the direct monitoring feature. The knob that allows you to dial in/out your processed sound along with your audio track works fine, but is there a way to dial in the audio track along with my UNPROCESSED sound? The audio track volume seems to be dependent on the direct monitoring knob and I'd like to be able to adjust this without adjusting my direct-in sound volume. The unprocessed sound is better IMO, not to mention the tiny, barely noticeable bit of latency with the processed sound.

If there's a way to adjust my interface to play back my unprocessed sound along with the audio track, I'd be infinitely happy with this interface. If you have an idea of whether this is doable, or another suggestion, let me know.

There's a way to do it I'm sure, but I don't recall what it is offhand - I set mine up that way, to get rid of the latency. Have you tried the manual? It's in there somewhere.

I think it's up to the DAW to provide that. In Cubase I setup the focus as output as well as input. And I turn on input monitoring on the track I am recording to. The other tracks are already in the mix. Doing this AND input monitoring in focus will give you a doubled sound. In some cases could feedback.
