ennui, az
I've been using a 1st gen 2i4 for a while now, and been very pleased...except for the usb jack.
The cable always felt loose, and would sometimes fall out, requiring a reboot. Annoying.

Recently, the jack failed completely, and I contacted support. Live chat, and email string ensued, and an RA # was issued, along with a prepaid shipping label. Was offered a refurb unit at a good price, agreed, and returned mine.
Once shipped and confirmed by them, I was issued an authorization to order the replacement before they had actually received mine, and found that they no longer had any 1st gen models, so was authorized for a 2nd gen model, and specifically not a refurb... a new unit.
Ordered, and it is shipping, again prepaid, to me.

The whole process was amazingly quick, efficient, easy and painless.

Just had to share.

Huh, I wouldn't have thought to have mentioned it, but since you did, yeah, I guess my only "complaint" is the USB plug comes out too easily. Hasn't failed though. Hmmmm...

Hello all...
Got home early today to find the package had landed. Haven't opened it yet.

Ideas-

Record to some existing unfinished tracks, for possible tracking issues and sound quality differences, if any.

Record a new track from scratch, for possible tracking issues and sound quality notes, and workflow issues, if any.

Take some pics and move on. :D

Other suggestions...?

Update to finish up-

I am very pleased with the 2nd gen model.
The headroom is obvious, the controls feel good, it sounds great, and I notice no latency at all in my use so far.

Additionally, the unit feels very solid and the finish seems to resist fingerprints. :)

Audio or a vid may still be forthcoming. ;)

Because I am both old skool and broke, this is used in Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit on an i3-4130 cpu PC, offline and dedicated solely to music production. I could use more RAM, but no issues as yet.
I am primarily using it with StudioOne Prime (3), but have several other music production programs that are all playing nice with the 2i4, so far. ;)

All loops and plugins, both included with purchased bundles or downloaded separately, are working fine so far with no worries at all, and live recording latency is not a problem.

edit- Also, I apparently owe you a video... :) any suggestions?
(the unboxing is past, my apologies...)
New track? Remix of one of my terrible tracks of history? Watching me digitize vinyl? (I have a pretty nice turntable...) :D
