Sorry, wasn't about your post.OP here. My original intention wasn't to bash. I've owned 2 Foderas and they're amazing. Just starting a discussion. I secretly think I was hoping someone would talk me down, because knowing me, I'll probably end up with that 4-string.![]()
That's good old TB, for you.
For some reason, people seem to have the necessity to bash on premium brands. Some of the ones who do it, probably have 10 basses of 1k each. Go figure.
Me neither. But many do, and I have no problem with it. But for me it's a little pointyI don't even know why but i really don't like the emperor body shape...
Sorry, wasn't about your post.
Just the general vibe on threads like this.
Definitely not your post.
Mike Bendy plays somewhat like Matt Garrison, whose sig bass is very similar, and Matt has been their second biggest sales driver. I'm not a fan of the sound either, but damn skippy I would try to appeal to his fans if I ran Fodera.I think it's perfectly fair to mention price. For example, I'm planning on getting a fretless Wal at some point, and I think it's ridiculous to pay that much for an electric bass, but I will because I want that tone. The sound of Foderas as played by Bendy is awful to my ears, and I don't think a $10k bass should sound like that. Personal preference and all that. They're beautiful basses, and I'm sure I could get a sound I like out of them, but the demos are awful to my ears.

That's why Matt has the better rep as a playerI don't actually think they sound anything alike. Garrison has that sort of muted, mid-heavy tone I generally associate with Fodera players, Bendy just sounds like he's playing a horribly set-up bass.
