It didn't seem like anyone was bashing. The OP was "starting a discussion" - shouldn't price be part of that discussion?

Anyway, love that top they're using, but I agree they should have gone with the Monarch shape and smaller headstock. In any case, out of my price range (no bash intended). Congrats to them on 40 years in the biz!

I think it's perfectly fair to mention price. For example, I'm planning on getting a fretless Wal at some point, and I think it's ridiculous to pay that much for an electric bass, but I will because I want that tone. The sound of Foderas as played by Bendy is awful to my ears, and I don't think a $10k bass should sound like that. Personal preference and all that. They're beautiful basses, and I'm sure I could get a sound I like out of them, but the demos are awful to my ears.

Mike Bendy plays somewhat like Matt Garrison, whose sig bass is very similar, and Matt has been their second biggest sales driver. I'm not a fan of the sound either, but damn skippy I would try to appeal to his fans if I ran Fodera.

I don't actually think they sound anything alike. Garrison has that sort of muted, mid-heavy tone I generally associate with Fodera players, Bendy just sounds like he's playing a horribly set-up bass.

I'm a Fodera owner and I love the family feel of how they treat their clients. For me, it's worth the price of admission.

So i don't say this easily.....but someone needs to sit Mike Bendy down and show him how to demo a bass.

I've never been able to sit through more than a minute of his demos. The playing is so "frantic" to the point that they stress me out. He never sticks on a note or a single musical motif long enough to get even the vaguest idea of the actual tone of the basses he demos.

Really nice looking. The aesthetic reminds me a bit of Bryan Ladd's bass.

I really like the lines of the emperor, much more so than the monarch. But hey, different strokes for different folks
