I just received this Emperor 5 Deluxe today. Haven't spent a lot of time with it yet. But this weekend it will see some action at a couple gigs. I can't wait.

Still playing with the garrison standard a lot. It cut through the mix nicely using the bridge pickup and the bass and mids boosted a little. It's quite growly. You probably could have it as your only bass.

Still playing with getting clean harmonics, the bass required a real light touch with the fine strings.

I'm pretty amazed at the different voicings you can get with it.

Congrats! The top on this bass is amazing. Please record it for us if you can. I'm considering a similar wood combo and body shape for my next custom. How's the low b? Is it 34 or 35". I haven't played an emperor, how's it balance? I assume it's lighter than a single cut?

Thanks for the comments guys.

I'm sure it's obvious to everyone here, but the woods are an ash body, buckeye burl top, birdseye maple fingerboard. The weight is 9.5lbs. A little heavier than the Monarch 5 Deluxe I used to own and about the same weight as another Emperor 5 Deluxe I used to own. It balances beautifully. 34" scale. The B string is nice and tight and the neck is thin and comfortable.

I'll see if I can get a recording from my gig tonight or tomorrow.

Cool. 9.5 isn't bad - these imperials are pretty heavy. I'm figuring there's around a pound of wood in the single cut top ear.

The specs on the Elite are: Walnut body, Maple tone block and spalted Maple top, Ash/Bubinga neck and Kingwood board, Aero DCs and pope preamp.

The Specs on the Deluxe are Walnut body and Rainbow Maple top, 3 pc Maple neck and Rosewood board. Duncan DCs and Pope preamp.

I'm still playing with the Deluxe, to my ears sounds a little more aggressive, killer slap sound!
