Selling my 1991 Fodera Emperor.

No low ball offers, the inlay is part of the history of the bass. I contacted Fodera and the quote to modified the inlay to make it more artistic is around $1700. This is a vintage Fodera, the resonance of the wood for 30 years gives the bass a unique tone. This is a bass for a working musician, that needs a tone that cuts thru the mix in live or studio situations.

The sound of a 30 years old bass is amazing, nice mids that cut thru the mix. Great definition. The combination of woods gives a unique personality to this bass. This bass is incredible. Plays and sounds beautiful. Super thick lows without being boomy, crisp clear highs without being brittle. An unbelievably tight B string. Exactly what you would expect from a Fodera Elite.

Apparently the original owner had his name engraved in it as a custom option. The next owner didn't want that and sent it to Fodera who did the Emperor inlay. It's very well done and in person looks very nice. The bass itself is in VERY good condition. There are a couple minor dents here and there that can be seen in photos and it had a small crack in the fretboard around the 21st fret that was long ago repaired.

I contacted Fodera when I got it to find out any info they and I have included the response in photos.

The preamp was updated in 2011 to a custom shop Fodera/Pope pre and the pickups were updated to Fodera/Duncan dual coils in 2014. So basically it has the same electronics and build you would get in a elite today for a fraction of the price.

Why the $3000 price change? Is that a mistake?
Bass was for few days on sale at a reduced price. Now went back to the market value. Check on Reverb, even the standards are expensive. This is a Custom Fodera with a Tone Block, 30 years old, crafted by Viny on 1991. The combination of woods is very unique. A new one with this specifications would be on the $12000-$13000 range. The Tone of the instrument can not be reproduce by a new one. 30 years of resonance make it a vintage one. Also respectfully bottom line I am the seller and it is up to me the selling price. Merry Christmas.

Love the sound of older played basses, as long as they were well looked after.
I bet this bass sounds awesome.

Really digging your old 2000 MG Imperial, that i picked up off of Chris.
The only other bass that i have owned that plays and sounds as sweet was a
Ken Smith EG Elite/ Cocobolo, walnut body.

Looks like the original bridge has been replaced with the newer style also.
