That Wal...Dera is a very growly bass. I have played it. I didnt like the way it sounded. It was hard to get all the tones i wanted out of it. But I guess if you like wal basse then you will like this bass. What i do like about it is the scale length...33". I fell in love with that part of it.

I just think they are quite large, but that one is probably exagerated because of the 33" scale too.

I like the standard Fodera headstocks a lot... but those extended B headstocks (like the one in the picture that posters seem to be commenting on) are not my thing either.... however, every bone in my body says that any effect on the B string of that different tuning key placement has to do with the additional mass of the headstock, not the extra couple inches of string between the nut and tuner. If that's true, then the larger size makes sense... just looks a little unbalanced on those instruments versus the standard headstock. Just IMO.

Regarding Jared's comment on the weight of these instruments.... +1 if you don't mind heavy, it's obviously not a problem. My Celinder Update is not a light bass (although still a couple pounds lighter than my mahogany Fodera), and there is something to say about the impact of a heavier piece of wood on the sound.... full and fat However, per the thread originator's question about others' experiences with the Emperor Elite, I believe weight is something to consider when deciding on this particular bass brand and model, especially if you want walnut, mahogany or a dense piece of ash for the body.
