Fodera Matt Garrison Standard #33. Box Elder Burl top, Walnut body, Pau Ferro FB, 33″ scale, 17.5mm bridge, nut width is 1 13/16". Beautiful sounding instrument; quick response and rich tone. Weight is 9 lbs, 15 oz. Most of these basses I've seen are over 10 lbs, so it's lighter than most and balances perfectly. Bass has had the nut slots widened at the Fodera factory to accommodate B-G tuning (I used to live in NYC). I've gone back and forth between E-C and B-G several times on this bass. I have sets of Fodera strings for both, so I'll set it up however you like and include the extra strings. Includes Fodera hardshell case, tools, and paperwork. Condition is very good. There are a few small dings if you look at a reflection, but nothing that I could get to show up in photos. Trades: Sadowsky NYC Will Lee 5-string with rosewood or ebony board; MTD 5 or 6 string, 34" scale or less, 18mm spacing or less. Both plus cash as appropriate. Would also consider high-end double bass (i.e. Juzek or similar). Price: $6750 USD shipped to Canada/USA. Other international shipping possible. Will also accept equivalent payment in CAD. Pics:
Here's a sound clip. I used the neck pickup in dual coil mode with everything set flat on the preamp. It's a more open, acoustic guitar-like tone than the typical "dark bridge pickup" tone that people usually go for with these basses, but you can really hear the great intonation, resonance, and complexity that this bass has.
I gather they don't make this model anymore, from visiting the web site. This bass sounds awesome! Does it have the standard electronics package and pups mentioned on the web site? When was the bass made? Any problems with shipping to the US at customs? Thanks!
Thanks! Yes, the pickups and electronics are stock, so it has Fodera/Duncan dual coil pickups and the Fodera Custom Shop Preamp. The bass was made in 2012 or possibly 2013. Regarding customs, there should be no duty charges since the bass was made in the US and there is a free trade agreement between Canada the US called USMCA (which recently replaced NAFTA). There is a possibility of being charged state sales tax on the value, however, it's somewhat arbitrary whether it's charged or not. If you dig around, you can find some threads on the subject (importing from Canada). Example: "Import Duties or Taxes" on item coming from Canada
Thanks to everyone who messaged me recently, and sorry that I missed several messages. My life has been crazy in the last couple of months so I'm marking this as "no longer available" for the time being. I will likely put the bass up for sale again at the end of April once things are under control for me.
I think I may have been the original owner of this bass. It’s an incredible instrument. The pau ferro is really a nice combo with the alder walnut. It has a sweet brightness. glwts
Bump for price drop! I had two custom Foderas before settling on this bass - it's a great instrument.
