Food for thought - top brands

I was in my favorite guitar shop over the weekend and overheard the owner talking to a customer. This guy has been in the business for 50+ years, so I tend to believe what he says.

Anyhow, he stated the "The top 4 brands in the guitar business -- Fender, Gibson, Taylor & (I think he said either Martin or Ibanez) -- account for 85% of the market. Everybody else makes up the other 15%."

I'm not even sure what to make of that, but I'm happy to open it up to the floor for discussion.

I agree with Fender and Gibson being on top, but there’s no way that Taylor comes before Ibanez. I mean, right?

I’m going to guess that’s pretty accurate given the amount of acoustic guitars that get sold.
