Im not asking for much. I just want the plug to stay in. I removed the jack, bent it a bit, and still, it just falls out after 2 minutes of playing. I almost like this bass, but Im disappointed. Should I be? Custom Shop, for Pete's sake!

For a custom shop bass , I shouldn't have any issues...

That's annoying for sure. Not to be contrarian, but what cable are you using? And does it work perfectly with other jacks?
Is there a Fender service center near you? I bet they could fix it in under a minute. Then you can forget this initial frustration and truly fall in love.
They fell out a lot in ‘51. It’s a feature.
Flip it and see if the straight side stays in. Not all right angle plugs jibe with those jack cups. The barrel doesn't allow full engagement before hitting the body edge.
The fix is inside the jack where the v meets the tip. You just need to bend the tab to get a little more tension on it.
That's the first thing I'd try. The female jack appears to be fairly deeply recessed which can prevent full insertion. Good news is the threaded sleeve can be loosened and re-positioned.

Yeah check that first. If the straight plug works then that cup doesn't like your 90 cable end. I see a possible work around, but you shouldn't have to have a DIY project on a new bass. Isn't that cup supposed to have two tiny wood screws holding it in place?...or were Fender not doing that in the earliest days? Seems I recall my '55 and '57 had the little screws. Where's that TB guy with all the old P basses, he prob knows for sure. Good luck.
I had a similar issue with mt Godin LR Boggs Acoustibass. Mine had a small piece of wood fall from the inside and block the upper portion of the v inside the jack. Once it was removed and the v was bent back into shape it was fine. Sounds like you might have a similar issue. Side jacks like the ones on your’s and mine are notorious for having occasional faults and newer cords have longer shafts that are sometimes incompatible with a vintage jack design. Did you try spraying some DeOxit 5 on a Q Tip and cleaning it? Just a thought.

I have a custom made bass, see profile pic. And it has a cup type output jack on the side. I've used wireless and cord, but both are straight plugs, not angles. No issues at all.
