For Those About to Rock Their Kiesel, Question.

Okay, really a simple question but I thought to use an eye grabbing title.

Where do you guys have the onboard volume pot set at? Kiesel support told me to max it, but I haven't. It's on the 8th mark out of 10. This was a couple of years ago, and I've forgotten about it.

But the preamp is rather weak as my other branded preamps go. It's been bugging me again. Maybe crank it to 10 and hope I don't significantly reduce battery life.

I have a stored profile in the mixer board, and it's a PITA changing basses from one week to the next. I've mentioned before my passive pbass with Fender '62 original pickups hit the board's preamp harder than the Kiesel.

My EBMM Sterling practically shouts at the board in comparison. It's only a 9V preamp unlike the 18V in the Kiesel.

Max it for sure, shouldn't make any discernible difference in battery life

I almost always ran my wide open. Battery life, especially with the dual 9v system is inconsequential. I had the same set of battereies in mine for over a year

Ever mess with the gain trimpot inside the cavity? I've had several Kiesels/Carvins, and that especially made a "weak/sterile" preamp in an old 9v Carvin sound great, once I simply turned up the trimpot.

That is what I'm talking about. The problem with cranking it to max is the disparity between the passive volume and the regular preamp volume is very noticeable.

I'm thinking the pickups have lost magnetism and cannot drive the preamp as it should.
