My Helms SC5 is here and I really don't have a need to have two basses that serve the same function. I'm putting this Zon up for trade/sale.

Specs:
- 5 string with 17mm spacing
- chrome hardware
- maple body/quilted maple top, trans black
- maple neck, rosewood fretboard (with dots)
- two J pickups, 3-band preamp
- 34 inch scale
- 9.4 lbs

It has some very light belt-buckle marks on the back but otherwise is in very good condition. Comes with a HSC.

This bass has a very versatile tone. I wouldn't say that it has one great tone, but it is capable of getting quite a wide variety of very good ones. It would be a great bass for someone who only wants to bring one bass to a gig but needs something that can cover a wide range of styles. It's very even from top to bottom. The 3-band preamp is nice too.It lets you dial in more lows, mids, and highs without going over board or sounding harsh. The B string is well above average. It isn't the best I have ever heard, but it's definitely within the top 4 of the basses I have owned. In fact, it's better than a few of the 35" scale basses I've had.

Other than tiding me over until my Helms was finished, the other reason that I bought this bass was so that I could try out a Zon Sonus shaped bass. I've never had the opportunity to play a real Zon. From what I understand, these basses have the same shape and neck profile as the much more expensive composite neck models. These basses are very comfortable to play. If anything it makes me want to save up for a US Zon that much more.

These pics are from the previous owner (I hope Chris doesn't mind me using them :ninja:). These are a lot better quality than I can take.

Hmmmmm, when my new SLO Ray 4 comes in... I might have to put the Sterling up to give this a shot.

Off hand do you know the spacing at the nut?

The width at the nut is 1.78 inches. Got any pics of the Sterling? You're in Ottawa too, so that's handy. I'm about 30 minutes south of the city, but work in the south end. If you want to try it out I'm sure we could set something up.
