Has anyone ever done something so terrible to you that you have never been able to forgive? I'm not talking forget. Yuo should never forget if someone wrongs you. But forgiveness is good for your soul. If you're still holding a grudge against someone, who is it? How long have you held the grudge? And finally, what did this person do to you?

I wouldn't even consider forgiveness for my (now ex)wife's father for what he did to his daughters, and neither for her mother for knowing about it and letting it continue for years.

I don't waste my time or brainpower thinking about either of them, but it was a very happy day for me when he croaked and I'll be very happy when she's dead, too. My wife's cousin and I both made jokes about death and corpses and laughed and heckled the entire time during the funeral service. Everyone around us could plainly hear us and we were pretty obnoxious, but everyone knew how much of an ******* the guy was and his whole family hated him so no one seemed to care that we turned his funeral into a circus.

Well... There was the recent roommate. Was my best friend for ten years, I took care of him, stuck my life on the line for him, defended him through everything, and I could swear he'd do the same for me.

Then he became my roommate and promptly stabbed me in the back. He still to this day owes me $1100 I covered for him because he decided he didn't have to pay his bills and I did, and turned his back on me and tried to shut me out of his life because I (supposedly) slandered him to his girlfriend of two months after they got engaged. I told her she was making a mistake in the engagement. That's it. Top that off with the fact that he was lying to his father (a very good friend of mine) about me and trying to turn him against me, and I'm feeling pretty unforgiving at this point.

One of Henley's best choruses IMO, and that's saying a lot.

Yep, one of his best songs and lyrics IMO too.

I've had a hard time forgiving a classmate of mine for the way he treated me when we were 13-16 years old. Those years were a pure hell for me in many ways. Due to him (at least partially), my self esteem was very low for 10+ years afterwards. I don't think I will ever fully recover from that period.

I think I have forgiven him by now though. One thing that contributed to it is that he recently invited me as a friend on Facebook (there's no real race "who got most friends of facebook" here like on other places). I want to believe that he in that way kind of wanted to apologize for what he did back then in the early 90's. It might be blue-eyed and naive to think so, but anyway it feels better to think like that than otherwise. I accepted his friend request, better to be friends than enemies. :)

He's "forgiven, not forgotten" (The Corrs)
