Forum Thread List - page numbers below each thread?

Sometimes a thread will show the multi-page numbers below the title and sometimes not. Even though I have visited the thread previously. Odd. Could it be a cookie thing?

Page numbers are only displayed when you mouse over the thread title, and only if there are more than 20 posts... Am I reading your question correctly? It doesn't have any bearing on whether you've read the thread or not...

Yes, hovering over the thread title displays page numbers for some few threads. It looks like the ones at the beginning and end of the list do, the ones at the end do not.
