So last night on the gig I brought my upshot cab since my cab of choice, the AI 2x10, is out of commission. I'd used it on this gig before, a trio with a guitar and sax. I'd gotten better results with it in other rooms but it was good enough. But last night while setting up I decided just for fun to stand it in its side facing forward and I thought "Hmm, not bad." so I thought I'd give it a try. When we started playing I was quite impressed , and when the first tune ended both guys turned around and said "What did you do?!?". They both said it was more like a real upright sound than they'd ever heard through an amp before. A very woody sound, very clear up and down the bass. I don't know if it's the room, the stage or what, but I don't remember getting a better amplified sound before. And so much fun!! It made the whole trio sound better. When the 2x10 is working again I may try it in there, but for now I couldn't be happier!!! Anyone else tried this?
