Found a 1976 svt

It'd be well worth getting, regardless of what anybody says about Japanese models, but not for $2000.

I'd start at $1400, then deduct the cost for tech fees, a cap job, and a few tubes, then throw back in a hundred bucks. Little something "for his taste".

I recently paid a little less than half of that $2000 asking price for a nice Blueline SVT, and even got a 30 day no questions asked warranty.

Atomic Music in Beltsville, MD, and yes I believe they had one more, though it may have been a Blackline.

SVT's didn't need the fan, it will pass UL without one. As for the caps, run it at 50Vac for a day, then 100 for another day, and then 120 for a third day to re-form the caps, with the 6550's removed to prevent cathode stripping.

Put the tubes back in and your good to go.

I can't conceive of an accordion though.

That must have been the accordion of doom. If the amp has been sitting, I would offer $1200 for it. He may have based his asking price off eBay.

There's a real good chance this SVT has very strong testing USA 6550's...as a tube horder for nearly 30 years, that's a HUGE plus imo....especially at todays prices for Russian & Chinese tubes, which I wouldn't even consider but that's me....I still have at least 10 USA 6550's that are new or near new.

It needs to be recapped throughout....you don't want to risk damaging any of the precious transformers.

The bias section has to be absolutely tip top but all of the electrolytics would be replaced if I bought the amp.

If those tubes aren't strong USA GE or Sylvania, you knock $500 to $600 right off the top.
