Oinkbanana, my understanding (based on what I have read on this forum and my own limited experience) is that the Korean amps are fine, as were the Vietnam ones once they had sorted out early issues (which you might almost expect with such a wholesale shift of production). Don't forget that there were also issues reported with the USA production runs after the workers were told they were losing their jobs.
The other thing to consider is that many reported problems were blatantly obvious on first turning on ( I had a CL with a hum like a jet engine that I refused to accept), I would imagine from a lack of quality control. On the whole if it worked it worked, apart from the silly standby voltege thing - is that circuit still in there?
Tube amps should not be rocket science, the principle hasn't changed that much in the last sixty years. I would happily buy any working all tube SVT,at least parts are readily available which is more than can be said for many products these days.
