A beginner here with a few questions - (If these have been discussed already - please guide me - the forum search function didn't come back with much).
My current chain -
Bass Guitar -> Focusrite Scarlett -> MacBook Air M1 (running amp/cab sims) -> RME ADI 2 DAC FS via USB Out of Macbook -> Genelec 7040 (sub) + Genelec 8030/G3 monitors.
I do not gig or play as a musician, I am only learning the instrument & wanted to play with friends that is all, I also Do not record.
I am very specifically looking at a Multi FX unit with Spdif out - To remove the macbook in the middle & directly plug into the RME via Spdif + Silent practice.
The current options are Helix Floor but I recently stumbled upon Fractal & the FM3 Turbo seems to be the perfect unit made for me - specially the form factor (I do not need all those extra pedal switches + expression pedal). But I had a few questions for which I could find no real answers.
1 - Has anyone successfully run the FM3 turbo with an iPAD pro as an Audio Interface?
2 - Is it a good audio interface to work with Macbook? Provided I do not record at all, but I do jam along with the computer audio sometimes for practice? Has anyone been able to successfully replace their audio interface?
3 - Is there an iPad app that can work as an editor/remote? I have seen FracPad app, but reviews are concerning. Something like the RME remote?
4 - Does it have passable effects for a beginner? I am currently only interested in compressor, octave, amp/cab sim & EQ.
***I do not mind complex tech. I am primarily considering such a unit as I do not want to go down the rabbit hole of pedals as most combinations I am looking at - along with the power supply + pedal board - come to the same cost.
